The Igbo Youths and Young Adults Home coming and Collaborative Project was an idea inspired by a group of Igbo women in the Bay Area in collaboration with some Igbo men from Northern California of which, I was a part and I have remained  committed and  resolute in this project.  This great forum had its inaugural gathering in December 2012 and has not looked back since then. The primary objective of this project which has already been summarized  in the preamble of this website still  remains an effort to expose our youths to one another by providing the youths  with a unique forum which will not only enable them to collaborate, socialize and network amongst themselves but will encourage them to be proud of their Igbo heritage;  this idea will further  enrich the youths deeply in having  an Identity,  embrace their afro-centric  Igbo  culture,  learn their ancestors’ Igbo language and be ready to flaunt and speak the language amongst themselves! To achieve all these, we as parents must accept the fact that the youths are our future and that the Igbo people may become a piteous minority in the home land and in the diaspora in a century! The factors which may necessitate this from becoming a reality are; the human drain caused by the Igbo high exodus from the home land, Cultural erosion caused by severe lack of interest of the contemporary Igbo to practice and be proud of their culture and the last but not the least, Igbo language extinction caused by perfunctory use of the language and or severe lack of pride in learning and speaking the Igbo language by the Igbo who are quick to lean and speak other cultures’ languages. Therefore, we ask all other Igbo men women in the Bay Area and beyond, being now, the last Generation between these Igbo Youths & Young Adults and our Ancestral Home to provide moral and every Support to this Project. It is our collective wish as the parents of these youths in the Igbo Youths and Young Adults Home Coming project to yield complete control to the youths in the future and to achieve this; we started with the 2014 event by allowing the youths greater roles and inputs in running and planning that event and future events; in fact, the 2014 event was almost entirely organized by the youths while we the parents provided the funding and fine tuning, including logistics and more. We wish to assure our people that we will listen to your honest advice, criticism and service in fostering love and unity among Igbo Youths and Young Adults, after all, Unity is Strength! Thank you and may God Bless Igbo Chief Ikechukwu Fidelis Orji Patron, Igbo Youths and Young Adults Collaborative Home Coming Project
